| Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited (MTNL) has defaulted on principal and interest payments to Union Bank of India, Bank of India, Punjab National Bank, State Bank of India, UCO Bank, Punjab and Sind Bank, and Indian Overseas Bank as of July 31, 2026, according to a regulatory filing. The total amount of outstanding borrowings from banks is Rs 9,575 crore, with a total financial indebtedness of Rs 37,396 crore, including Rs 9,575 crore in bank loans, Rs 24,071 crore in Singapore Government bonds, and Rs 3,750 crore in loans from the Department of Telecommunications to cover interest payments on the bonds. |
